J A Burke had the groundworks package on this project for ADI. Consisting of 4 units in 2 buildings with service yards and car parking and  associated drainage. JAB had done the cut and fill, drainage, foundations, bolts and some kerbs on their 1st visit and had left site for a few  months. The previous engineer wasnt available so I got the shout. Scope of works was:

• to finish off the remaining kerbs - car park islands etc
• finish off the drainage
• incoming service trench
• prepare the roads for tarmac by others
• prepare the car parks for block paving
• service yard
• all car parks
• sub stations,
• ducting
• new entrance
• street furniture etc.

JAB needed someone to come in with the instruments and laptop etc and get on with it. I had to set everything out and record the as builts, quantify materials. Once i had created my terrian model and 3d strings the rest was fairly straight forward. I just wish that designers would design things like kerb islands to suit the standard pieces that the kerb manufacturers make - it would make life so much easier!!

I liked working with Burkes, they were well set up, materials were readily available and management were supportive. This was a good job with good operatives but the design information was poor / incomplete / not available which meant at times the tail was wagging the dog so was a little frustrating ......but we got there!
