Construction of £7.5m 16 span viaduct to complete the Bognor Regis Northern Relief Road.
This is a 16 span RC concrete viaduct to cross over a railway line and the Lidsey Rife water course. The piles complete and the majority of the transitions were constructed. As 1 of 2 site engineers I was responsible for the setting out of all columns (5 on each pier), level control installation of column rebar with bobs into the crosshead, then once all 5 are complete i did the setting out and levels for the backfill & sleepers for the crosshead falsework. When the falsework was finished I levelled in the deck and hand over to the other engineer. To help out I did the setting out for 40% of the crossheads. There were various crushed stockpile surveys to do. I also devised the beam laydown areas and their setting out to maximise the available space.
Works involved
- 5 x 900Ø piles into 750Ø columns into x 15 crossheads
- Each crosshead had 22 plinths with bearings on
- Span consists 11 precast beams
- RC works
- Devising and setting out the beam laydown area to optimise the available space
- Various surveys and as builts
