Stanbridge Earls Retirement Village, Romsey
Hired by Henry Construction Projects
Jan 2019 - Mar2019
This new £35m retirement village is based in the Stansbridge Earls school in Romsey. The main building will be renovated and several new blocks in the grounds are being built. Henry have taken the project over from a previous contractor whilst in its early stages. Some of the foundations are in as is some of the main arterial drainage but there is still about 80% of the project for Henry to do.

This was only a short term job to help with a busy period. My role as engineer for Henry was basically setting out, surveys and quality. There's no machine control for me to do on this job, so it was peg bashing for me. The site is quite spread out means a bit of organisation. Its handy as it keeps my eye in with cfa piles, groundbeams, RC walls and slabs and brickwork which I haven't worked on for a few years. The blocks are pretty much the same, ie mass fill to underside of groundbeams, then RC groundbeams, substructure blockwork, block and beam floor with 3 storey traditional build with steel frame supports to create luxury apartments. I have created a site DTM to make things easier for me. I had on the go....
- Foundations for block G
- Foundations for block J
- Brickwork and pop ups on blocks N, O and K
- Foundations then brickwork and pop ups for block M
- RC retaining walls, service trench walls and slabs for block B which will then be the swimming pool / bistro building
- 125 cfa Piles then foundations for block L
- Drainage throughout the site
- Utilities throughout the site
- Roads and footpaths site wide
- Landscaping site wide
- 2 no 13.5m long Klargesters to go in
- As well as surveying what we have inherited to see whether can proceed or start again, fortunately most of it is OK
