Mildren have been working on the redevelopment of Bordon for a few years now, doing projects such as new roads and sewers, pump station, s278 works etc. Basically Bordon was predominantly an army town, but the MoD have moved out and the old buildings have been flattened to be replaced by a new "vibrant community space". Others are building the housing, the new schools, sports centre etc. This bit is known as TC1 which is part of the new town centre and comprises of 3 blocks. Block A2 is a multistorey car park, block A3 is a new Sainsburys store and block A4 is retail / commercial space.


Mildren's in house engineers were all busy so they needed someone to come in and basically get on with it. Again I am supplying myself with all the equipment required to get the job done.


My involvement here is the usual pre start site surveys then the setting out and as builts for the drainage, crane platforms, foundations, s278 works etc. On paper its fairly straight forward but as always there are nuances - which makes it interesting. There isnt much space and the buildings are really close together so logistically its a pain, but luckily I dont have to deal with it. Its only now buildings are going up the lack of space / working room is becoming apparant. Mildren are good at this stuff so its no problem to them.


On block A2 the car park, we installed all the drainage which comprised of pipes, manholes, gullies and 5m deep interceptor, pad foundations with holding down bolts, stair core, entry ramp and ground floor tarmac. Bourne Parking will then take over and build the car park.

Block A3 Sainsburys is all the drainage, pad foundations / groundbeams with holding down bolts, service yard, bootbeams etc

Block A4 commercial is drainage, pads and beams with holding down bolts, lift pit and a stair core.

The s278 works on Budds Lane included new kerds along Budds Lane, new entrance into the car park, 2 no vehicle crossovers to the service yard and rear of store and widening  of the existing 2m footpath to a 3m shared cycleway.
