Updating my profile.....I'm here all week...

This week I have been mostly........making and putting up profiles!!

1000m at 10m chainages left and right so thats 200 profiles. Its a bit like the Little Britain sketch with Denis Waterman, write the theme tune, sing the theme tune. Here its set the points out, bang the stakes in, level the tops, make the cross pieces and put em on. Luckily the weather has been nice, I can load up the wagon with stakes, boards, screws, screw driver, saw, sledge hammer etc etc, take a flask and just get on with it. It was quite pleasant actually. I'd be "screwed" without the wagon tho....

Ranger Wildtrak

We were missing something, so we invested in some new wheels. This will go anywhere, as the title says aint no stopping us now!!!

We now have the capability to do pretty much anything setting out related. Using the latest technology of the new Trimble S5 robotic instrument, the r10 gnss and the wagon we can handle most things!!!!

We now have GNSS capability!!!

gnss tastic baby!!

The Company has invested in Trimble r10 gnss reciever. Its paired with our existing Trimble TSC5 handset, to make life so much easier!! We have invested in a VRS correction licence so can pretty much work anywhere !!!! One handset - 2 technologies - endless possibilities!!!!!

Formation model

Working on a formation model for a new housing development. It can be a bit of a ball ache and anyone who tells you its a simple quick process is either lying or hasnt done it properly. "You've got the cad drawing it gives you this!!", well not quite.... It gives you a good start. Its not just a case of applying a surface depth to each surface oh no that would be too easy. What if the road is adoptable? If the road is 6m wide, the dig isnt 6m, oh no its proportional to the surface depth. It could be that the "box" for a 6m wide road is actually 8m. The excavation for a 1500 diameter manhole is near on 2.5m x 2.5m x its depth. This is where LSS comes in, but even then theres a lot of manipulation to do.

New Investment......

Well after a lot of deliberating I made the decision to replace my trusty Leica TS15 with a Trimble S5 and the new TSC5 controller. I liked my TS15, it was brilliant but I just felt the s5 gave me more. It has been a quite a straight forward process and now 2 weeks in I'm able to do what i could before ....just a the menus and workflows are different. I actually quite like it and very pleased with the purchase.
